Lucky Worms started the way the best businesses do: in the dirt. It’s a worm-wiggle take on a lemonade stand, dreamed up and run by two kids in the Berkshire woods who learned to fish alongside their dad and their grandfather — or “Umpa,” as they call him.
When Umpa passed away, the sign at his celebration of life read, “Gone Fishing.” That sign is why we’re here. Lucky Worms carries his legacy forward with the joy and humor that defined him, along with a deep reverence for nature. We’re not sentimental. We’re alive. And so are the worms.
Every dollar this business earns goes directly into a 529 education fund for the two kid founders. But we believe education starts long before college. It starts outside — with muddy hands, curious minds, fishing lines, and learning to notice and care for the natural world around you. For now, that education happens worm by worm, cast by cast, and adventure by adventure.
The Worm Wranglers
Lucky Worms is run by two kid founders who learned everything they know about fishing from their dad and their Umpa. You won't see their faces here — that's on purpose — but you'll see their work in every cup.
Worm Wrangler
Runs the worm bin like a tight ship: squeeze tests every three days, worm chow measured to the ounce — and handles the money math to make sure the whole operation pencils out. The worms (and the books) report directly to him.
Lucky Worm
Handles the farm stand and quality control — which mostly means going fishing to test the product. Somebody has to.
How We Do Things
No Foam Cups. Ever.
We started this, in part, because we kept finding styrofoam bait cups littering the Berkshire woods and our favorite fishing spots. Not here.
Back to the Earth
Our compostable cups break down where they came from. The worms improve the soil; the packaging shouldn't ruin it.
Raised Right
Farm-raised in Washington in our own self-sustaining compost worm bin. Healthy worms, happy fish, lucky anglers.
